The first summer tourni, fun fun fun fun fun!

Thankfully the weather was lovely for a whole day of playing korfball. Cara Allen sure does know how to control the weather, I wonder what else she can do?
Croydon had a blue and a white team, the Swans played, Becki P was around but playing for Bearsted and our smiley Chelsie and Toby were in the England U21 squad.
Obviously the day was fabulous with games, goals, laughs, talking, eating, drinking.... I cant wait for our day July 6th, Anna can you do a good weather dance please!
If people tell me their highlights I will add or if you have 'the power' add yourself!
Highlights for me
Vicky falling mid game - in a hole she said, not seen by anyone else (more water in the drink next time)
Emma's face on winning the prize draw and her embarrassment to all our hoots and woo hoos
Katie's - right in front of the post about 7m away casual throw and in it goes
Anna - getting an award but sorry as missed as dashed off or I would've given a woo hoo
Wendy - coming for the afternoon when on Saturday her sister got married, very dedicated

I think everyone enjoyed themselves, of course the usual niggles at times, good pieces of play.
Congratulations to Chelsie and Toby, sorry to see you leave but you know where we are!

right people feel free to add some x

Not everyone from Croydon left the Nomads tournament without a trophy!

Croydon and Swans players alike enjoyed an exciting and highly successful day on Sunday at the Nomads summer tournament in Cheam! The sun was shining and it was great to see three strong teams battle it out in a tournament that had some of Great Britain's best Korfing talent on show!

The experienced players of Croydon Blue did themselves no favours by starting the day so strongly and winning all of the morning matches. This left them in the "international" pool for the afternoon which meant no further victories however a top 5 finish in a 36 team tournament is impressive by anyone's standards! They also welcomed back some old faces in Vicky, Mark and Amanda which hopefully bodes well for next season.

Croydon White fielded a mixture of youth and experience and it was particularly pleasing to see some of Croydon's newest recruits adapting well to summer Korfball.

Swans also enjoyed a successful day! With adopted Swan Dan stepping in as he did last summer in Holland the Swans managed to remain unbeaten all afternoon to win pool 6! Unfortunately the chocolate prize was mistakenly awarded to Bec however the disappointment was short lived with Emma winning the raffle and shouting the team a slightly more enjoyable post tournament reward!

The highlight of the day however came during the awards ceremony when Anna Jeannes was awarded with the Elsie Renew trophy! The trophy was awarded to Anna in acknowledgement of her outstanding efforts towards junior Korfball over the past 10 years. Anna has worked tirelessly to introduce Korfball to youngsters from all over by working with schools and parents and organising countless junior events. It was fitting that the crowd of over 100 Korfers included some of the very youngest and the very oldest, all applauding as the prestigious award was presented. Congratulations Anna!
