Croydon 3 take the champagne against Supernova

Croydon 3 lined up with a pretty formidable team against Supernova 3 in the depressing gloom of Millwall Community Sports Hall. However it was Supernova who got off to a perfect start with a goal from their first attack. This would prove to be a false dawn. Croydon went down the other end and created an immediate chance with a flowing move from veteran Paul Jeanes but it was Zoe Shewell who replied with the first of 3 neatly taken long shots from mid court over the course of the match. Supernova were battling in attack but once Croydon gave up chasing the referee for decisions and focussed on their opponents they gradually squeezed the life out of the hosts' attack. The scoreboard didn't reflect this though as the teams stayed neck and neck but the hosts were scoring free-passes and snap chances rather than the somewhat wasteful visitors who cut them open time and again in the first half.

Croydon just need to keep on doing what they were doing in the second half whilst keeping it a bit tighter at the back. This they did. After a slow start, they turned the screw in defense but kept the scoreboard ticking over and slowly but surely, the game was up for an uninspired Nova. The final act was for Andy Withers to convert a penalty won by Steve Wright to extend the lead to 4 goals and a comfortable win.

A great team effort for the visitors but they do need to work on their finishing as the scoreline probably should have been more one-sided and there are tougher battles to come in what's left of the season.

Swans lose momentum in 2nd half against Highbury 2

The Swans arrived at Royal Russell ready for the last game of the season against Highbury 2. In first attack was Ben, Harry, Joc and Jess. In first defence was Rog, Joe, Emma and Amy. The Swans showed great fight in the first half. After going 0-4 down the swans knew they had to up there game. Joc managed to get into a great feed position for Ben to swiftly run past his opponent to bring score to 1-4. Highbury then scored from a free pass to make 1-5. Joe then scored a runner fed by Emma and then a drop off collected from Roger's shot. The score line was then 3-5 at half time.

After finishing the first half positively the swans were optimistic. Unfortunately, after battling hard for the whole game the Swans let the final score slip to 4-12. Under pressure Ben put away a very nice penalty and Emma made way for Lindsey in the second half who had a very positive influence in Rogers section.

Congratulations to Harry for having a great game and getting MVP.
