Croydon 3's second half performance outshines Supernova 2

CKC 3 headed to Millwall for their penultimate game of the season, eager to come away with a victory after a frustrating loss last week.

In first attack was Julia J, Susan W, Andy W and Craig S leaving a section of Kay & Ellen S, Dom B and Steve W in first defence. Supernova started off the blocks a bit sharper than CKC with two quick goals, but Steve sunk two shots from down town (one not even touching the sides!) to bring the visitors level and back in the game. With both teams needing to improve their passing, goals were traded Ė including a runner from Susan and a lovely medium shot from Ellen bringing in the half time score 4-5 to Supernova.

Half time team talk required more movement from Steveís section to assist one another and fewer one shot attacks from the other section. It was agreed that the whole team also needed to look after the ball when taking it out of defence.

The second half was CKCís turn to be sharp out the block and with 3 unanswered goals (long from Craig and 2 round the post from Dom) took the visitors back into the lead with a 2 goal margin. With experience showing through the team, another penalty from Susan and a free pass from Dom stretched the lead to 3 goals with another from the home side. The team took on board the half time instructions with more movement and better passing, following another goal by SN, Andy scored a lovely long shot and another penalty from Susan taking the scoreline 11-7 to CKC. With SN only adding one more goal to their tally, Dom converted a penalty with Craig slotting in a long distance shot to bring the away team the right side of a 13-8 final scoreline.

During the game, Julia worked hard timing her feeds for the boys and was unlucky not to have her runner given. Andy was out front, he was at the post collecting and he was feeding and was rewarded by a super goal in the second half with Craig gaining experience and confidence with every game taking on his boys for great runners. The Twins worked tirelessly collecting, fighting and chasing every ball and generally doing lots of running and great stuff with Dom collecting around the basket well. Steve made it very difficult for them to walk the block and accidentally taking out one of their boys as he lost his balance diving for the ball!

Well done to the whole team as it was a great team performance and a solid second half secured a victory. Letís keep the momentum going into our final game of the season at Petchey in a couple of weeks.

p.s. POTM was split between Kay and Ellen..but unable to show both.
