Tale of two halves for Croydon 2!

Croydon 2 took to Trinity for the morning match against last years league victors Trojans 2. The game didn't start the best as captain Dom managed to forget the fact that Trojans also play in blue, so forgot the away kit. Luckily Elle was on the sides and whisked off to Doms house to retrieve the kit. So 5 mins into the game a time out was called, we kitted up and put in a brilliant first half show. Croydon took Trojans on in all mini battles and ended the half only down by 12-10.
So, the half time talk was to slow down a bit and to use the girls out the front more. It was also mentioned that if we got the next goal it would put a bit of pressure on them, then who knows??
But the plan didn't quite work, Croydon shipping the next 14 goals to suddenly find themselves 26-10 down. This wasn't helped by the fact Dom had to briefly go off injured after falling awkwardly when winning the ball.
Tom and Hannah again did a good job for the team when called upon.

Moving forwards, I think if we can get a good amount of the 2nds to training we would benefit more from match play situations.

Overall, the game was mainly played in good spirits though and Croydon were unfortunate not to be able to keep up the first half performance.

CKC3 go down to seven and lose ten seven.

CKC3 headed to Bevin full of optimism following a good win against Nomads and in the knowledge that CKC4 had pushed Mitcham 1 close earlier in the season. Sections were Hannah, Julie, Tom and Adam in defence and Emma, Annie, Vik and Ben in attack. Mitcham started the brightest and took an early 2-0 lead before Adam pulled one back. Croydon created good chances but were often limited to one shot attacks by the very tall Mitcham side. Scores then went 4-2 with Annie keeping the blues in the game. Mitcham again extended their lead to 6-2 before Emma scored from close range and Ben sank a lucky one from distance.

Score at half time was 6-4 to Mitcham but CKC3 felt they were well in the game. Scores remained the same for quite some time with the the ball not quite dropping for the blues. The game became increasingly harder for Croydon when Ben had to retire having rolled his ankle attempting to cut out the feed. Going down to 7 seemed to galvanise the team. Annie, Vik and Emma defended gallantly giving Hannah and Adam time to bag another goal each. The section of 3 soon got their heads round attacking with a player down and used the defensive section as the 4th player to good effect. When Annie brought the scores back to 10-7 it was Croydon who were finishing the stronger but time escaped them and the game finished 10-7 to the Home side. Disappointing result but lots to be proud of.
