‘Boys’ and girls the focus for Croydon’s future

Croydon Korfball Club are delighted to confirm Colin Boys as their new head coach going into the 2014/15 season and beyond.

The Ex-England coach brings with him a huge wealth of experience at club and international level, building winning teams, time and time again while developing young players. It is these skills in particular that Croydon will be looking for their new coach to bring into the squad.

Colin was quick to point out the importance of seeing Croydon return to the top flight following its relegation last season, however an emphasis on youth is high on both the coach and clubs ambitions.

“I’m very happy to be part of the team looking to put Croydon Korfball Club back where it belongs, in the top flight of English Korfball. My aim is to improve the quality of training which will help the youth progress to play in the National League.”

Colin will link up with familiar faces at the club, including new club coach Ian de la Mothe, which should prove to be invaluable in ensuring a smooth link between Croydon’s club and squad sessions. The new coach did however include a warning for players seeking to play at squad level.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside some old friends, but, players beware, training won’t be easy and I expect commitment from everyone.”

Croydon Chairperson Ben Walsh hopes the appointments will help the clubs drive for a long term future back in the National League commenting: “The appointment of Colin and Ian demonstrate the clubs commitment to youth development and we hope that by bringing youngsters through, Croydon will be far stronger when we make it back into the National League.”

Boys replaces Ross Carr-Taylor as Croydon’s head coach, while De la Mothe takes over from long serving club coach Steve Jones. The club wishes to place on record their thanks and best wishes to both for the future.
