Highbury 1 outplay Croydon 3

By hook and crook we all managed to get to Score. After sitting in the corridor we had a leisurely walk into the cold sports hall. So not really a set warm up bar Ben who had just run in and Andy who arrived with about 4 minutes to the starting whistle! Thus saving Mr Nightshift from having to start.

In attack was Ben, Dave, Karen and I with defence of Andy, Dan, Julia and Zoe. I do believe that Highbury scored the first 4 goals. The game was flowing they did lots of interceptions and close marking and on discussion after the game we did think somehow the ball would not be where you were expecting it to be on long passes. Anyway, Dave was up for a penalty, not having made it but taking it. Whoopie we were on the scoresheet!! And it didn't stop there for us or for Highbury who kept managing to move the ball through the korf with simple ease. Dan in open play scored from mid range, flat but it went in and that's what counts. More importantly proving we could not only move the ball around but we or Dan could score too.

Maybe we needed more support from the 3 monkeys and rhino on the bench! We needed something! Although it didnt seem that we were loosing badly (if you didn't look at the mounting score) or especially being outplayed (hmm maybe). Half time chat was to try the fake pass, be sharper and fight. Well done Zoe who chose not to elbow her player in the head as she had just done to her.

We did try, oh yes we did and it did improve. Shame was the person never moved to the ball or didn't catch it. We got some good defending going on and Dave did a warp speed running in shot but no just not our day. More so Karen who went off injured after tapeing her ankle it still was not happy (get better honey). Ben and Dave did a stirling collection/interception routine when we were down to the three of us, but wait we have one more goal to mention (forgeting Andy's sail over the top penalty) Julia took a quick and sneeky shot and goal!!

Final score eek 3 to us and 17 to them. Sorry Croydon x
