Croydon 1 complete clean sweep with romp over Nomads 3

The first goal took less than 30 seconds - Croydon meant business and came out wanting to win. Nomads (girls at least) weren't going to roll over and they equalised to send Dan, Grace, Zu and Julia into defence.

Anna and Sue were looking dangerous with support from Nigel and Vernon and Sue scored. There was good movement and recycling throughout the game and feed and collect were easily won. Anna scored, and then after the chnage of end Grace put away the free pass.

Nomads got one back, but Vernon scored from a good angle at the back and Nigel collected and scored from Anna's shot.

The same Nomads girl was still scoring, but Grace pulled it back at the other end with a running in shot that took the right line. Vernon scored the first of his goals from a collect so it was 8-3 when Nomads called a time out.

Nomads scored 'a shoot and hope' but Dan did a twist and score and then a runner which meant Croydon were drawing away at 10-4. Nomads stepped up a gear so the scoring continued.

Just before the break Dan, Zu, and Sue forced penalties which Dan and Vernon converted. It was 15-8 at the end of an enjoyable half.

The second half started with a yell as Dan blammed his young player. Then followed an unanswered goal spree with Nigel (three times), Zu, and Dan making the experience show tricking and wrong footing their players. The attack was mixing up 4-0 and 2-2 and using the home space effectively. Coach Paul decided to mix it up, and during the half Andy came on for Vernon, Kim for Grace and Ed for Dan. Kim was half the height of her player but Kim's fakes and dodges kept her busy. The end of the match got a bit more scrappy - goals came from free passes (Zu) and penalties (Andy). Zu finished with a long shot and there was a well deserved victory of 25-8. Nice to see the team pull away and finish the game; well done everybody.
