Croydon 3 continue winning streak

We were hoping to have a good game with the usual 3rd team faces but I do need to say a warm welcome to new face Sarah. Yes she finally had a match in the beloved want to play in 3rd team!
Always trying to keep people happy I let Adam,Dom, Ellen and Sarah attack first leaving Kay, Martin, Stephen and myself in defence. Did you notice the sisters were separated.. How would this effect their game?
It was a steady start as Dom scored a cute 4m so Sarah slotted one in from 6m! As soon as we changed I think Kay feed Stephen for a running in shot and all that occurred within 3minutes. The game had it's longest time of no goals 6mins then Nomads youngster managed to slip past our youngster to score. Ellen's 3m shot was only 1min after so maybe the boredom of defence was good for her. Nomads always good for competition left Martin questioning the goal Chris Allen scored from as good as the half line corner but it sailed in. Stephen quick with the change scored from 5m in the same minute. Nomads again pressed on with 2 goals in 3 minutes (score 5-4) Dom gets another 4m goal but so do Nomads enter Stephen with his 4m then another let in (7-6) Sarah scores a 5m beauty but so do Nomads. Thankfully Kay calls for ball and scores a perfect 3m taking the half time score to 9_7 to us.
I must say fabulous half time talk from Anna, Wrights as we came out with 2 3m shots from Dom, under the basket from me another 3m from Kay and a 2m (reducing her range as nearing end of the game) from Sarah leaving Croydon 14 - 7 up!
Unfortunately Nomads Chris went off injured (fingers crossed its not as bad as it looked). Dom keeping to his scoring distance scored again from 3m. The section now playing 3 let Martin shoot, I was still trying to get Kay to score without realising Martin hadn't scored, but he got his goal giving us a final score of 16 - 8 woo hoo
We all played well, with things to learn sorry I didn't realise Adam hadn't. Scored or else I would've been shouting to look for him. Everyone did play well and thanks for the supporters and goalscorer Craig.

Trojans experience too much for Croydon 4

Croydon 4 took on Trojans 3 at their new home venue which was .....Trinity! In first attach were Hannah, Katie, David and Craig and in first defence were Keri, Janine, Paul and Jon. As such the combined ages of the boys were almost double those of the girls ...but that was all to change with the substitutions.

Croydon started slowly against a very experienced (and tall) Trojans team but so did they . However, they scored first (rather fortuitously) and after that steadily pulled away until by half time they were 6-0 up. it wasn't that Croydon were doing anything wrong it was just that Trojans were better at it.

After half time Laura L came on to replace Janine and the secret weapon Kieron came on to replace Jon a little while later. He had skated over from Woodside to join the team and caught Trojans off guard by scoring virtually on his first touch. A little later David scored but meanwhile Trojans had got up to 10 and that was how the game finished.

So Croydon do not have to be downhearted at losing to a team with some very experienced players. The game was probably lost in collect where Trojans recycled the ball so much better but also Croydon's shooting was often awry. There were good performances all round but Paul W did give 110% (so much so that he gave away a free pass) and did score a goal (adjudged to have been defended) and is a worthy recipient of MVP.

Swans outshone by Supernova

With Coach Walsh away, there was a slightly different line up in the Swan's team as they travelled to Bec for an early Sunday start. First attack was Rog, Joe, Amy and Emma and in first defence was Tom G, Leo, Wendy and Joce. Supernova were wide awake and opened the scoring quickly by scoring two goals; the Swans were trailing 2-0 within the first few minutes. The Swans carried on fighting and Tom G reacted by getting a great drop off from Wends’ shot. This was quickly followed by a well executed running in shot from Leo. There was a strong defence from both teams which meant that the half time score stayed at 2-2.

With some tips given from Walsh via the phone, the team decided that they needed to make sure they took their shots and continue to find space. The second half began and both teams knew it was all still to play for. Lots of shots were going up from the Swans and they continued to defend hard. Wends and Joce were running their girls and Amy maintained her position in collect. Supernova scored to make it 3-2, however the boys reacted well under the pressure and with a quick feed from Joe, Rog managed to lose his man to equalise the score to 3-3. Supernova added another to their total to edge it to 4-3 and Lindsey came on for Emma with lots of energy. The game continued and despite lots of effort all around Swans could not quite get the ball to drop in. The swans battled hard and there were some positive periods in attack but it was Supernova who finished the stronger team on the day, closing out the game to win 7-3. MVP to Leo for taking an attacking role and scoring his first league goal. Thanks to Supernova for providing a ref too.
