New look Croydon1 give HIghbury 2 a good matchSusan scored an amazing 1 handed goal in the dying second of their attack, it must have been from at least 10m out. Go Susan go go go. Abi played her first 1st team game and really stepped up and showed how great a player she is. Mark ran and jumped and played his heart out, even after a teenage night out. Matthew played superbly against the Dutch Highbury player who was in his last game for their club. Special thanks to Kim for traveling all the way to Moberly to play 1s. And for scoring 2 peachy goals into the bargain. Ed was everywhere on the pitch, popping shots up and defending like a demon. Dom scored his trademark drop offs, what an asset he is. Anna was old and tired, but helped make up the numbers! The sections were Andy, Chris, Jenny and myself starting in attack, with Sarah, Becca, Matt and Callum in defense. Bec quickly conceeded a penalty, which I scored, putting us 1-0 up. After that Croydon were on a roll. By half time, we were already 7-0 up with another penalty from myself, some lovely running in shots from Sarah and some great long range shooting from Matt. There was a positive atmosphere and it was also nice to see some of the Bec juniors move up to seniors as well. The second half started with more goals for Croydon and a great shot from Jenny. Despite his dodgy knees, Andy did an amazing job feeding and collecting and supporting the team, with Chris doing some great running on his behalf. Chris played really well against a good defender and was unlucky not to get a goal as he put up some great shots. At the other end, Becca put up some great longs shots, and was unlucky that they weren't going in today. Callum was brilliant in the collect and Sarah and Matt continued to work hard scoring more goals. We were all treated to a guest appearance from Lorna for the final few minutes of the match. Overall, a great team performance and an amazing end result xMatch Report by Olivia | Updated by Andy Previous photo Next photo1 of 2 Final Score: Bec 4 1 vs 13 Croydon 3M Cartwright (3)C Elliott (0)C Harker (0)A Withers (0)O Arnold (5)J Lawson (1)R Harker (0)S Arnold (4)L MacKay-Elliott (0)Submitted by Anna on 10 Dec 23
