Why Croydon?

Croydon Korfball Club is the oldest and one of the biggest and friendliest clubs in the UK and caters for a wide range of ages and abilities from the complete beginner to international players and referees. We're a family club with long established roots in the local community. Currently we have 4 adult teams competing in the National League and London Leagues and juniors from ages 10 upwards.

1st Team

Our 1st team competes in the England Korfball League, the highest league in the land. This season runs from October to April each year and this year we'll be looking to consolidate our position in the league after winning promotion last season. During the Autumn and Spring the first team compete in local outdoor competitions and during the Summer the team (and club as a whole) compete in one-day summer tournaments in the UK and abroad, mostly in Holland.

In recent years the team has thrived in the EKA Cup and represented Britain in the Europa Shield

2nd Team

The 2nd team is a mix of the up-and-coming younger players and more experienced "old hands". The team puts up a consistently strong showing as our hot bed for those destined for greatness! The 1st and 2nd team squad train twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) with matches on Sundays.

3rd and 4th Teams

The third and fourth teams compete in the lower leagues of the London Korfball Association. These teams consist of both recreational and new players and often include complete beginners - everyone has to start somewhere. Everyone can find their ideal level of competition within these sides. Players in these teams generally train once per week on Thursdays with matches on Sundays.

Juniors

Croydon fields teams in the following age groups: U9, U13 and U15. Rather than competing in weekly leagues, junior teams meet every few weekends and play in "round robin" style competitions to maximise playing time. Older Juniors who are good enough, often move up and play in the senior sides when they are ready, for example a 14 year old was recently promoted to the 2nd team to gain experience of playing at that level. Croydon has a strong club-school link with St Peter's Primary School, South Croydon and is always looking to cultivate other such tie-ups.
