Croydon 1 scoreline better than the reverse fixture against Nottingham

Croydon hosted Nottingham at RR, looking to improve on the tough away fixture. Things got off to a better start this time as Croydon managed to field a full team of 8 players from the start. Croydon made one change from the team that beat KV last week, with J. Hudspith coming in for S. Wright.

Nottigham were not quite at full stength, but still fielded a strong team. However, Croydon were able to exert some sustained pressure on Notts shooters which slowed their scoring rate considerably. At the other end Croydon continued to make plenty of chances, but unlike last week were unable to find the basket with the same regularity, which allowed Notts to slowly pull away. HT 3-12.

With one eye on the Trojans game the following day coach Jeans chose to rotate his team and brought on Mills and Wright for Stimpson and Ellis. Croydon never quite hit full stride in attack, but did continue to frustrate Notts in defence for long periods. A final flurry from Notts boosted their final score to a flattering 9-23. Still an improved display from Croydon who are finding some confidence, and the scoreline could (should) have been a lot closer.
