Croydon 1 make the moves but can't score the goals against Tornadoes 1Croydon started this Saturday fixture with Ellis, Oosterling, Jeanes and Wright in first attack, and captain Hudspith in first defence with Carr-Taylor, Stimpson, Driver. The game started slowly with neither team really getting into their stride. The young Tornadoes team were attempting shots from a long way out and eventually some of these starting falling for them. They were also trying to be very physical in defence, but this worked less well and the referee awarded penalties against them. Croydon managed some long shots of their own, but in general they made some great moves and got into the right shooting positions, but couldn't convert their chances, with running in shots going begging as well as medium distance shots. There were some good periods during the game when Croydon kept Tornadoes from scoring but it was in attack that the London team failed to capitalise and it showed in the scoreline. Goals came from Hudspith long shots, a Wright drop off, Carr-Taylor fade away and long shot, Stimpson long and drop off and free pass, and Jeanes long shot, penalties and a peach of a shot under the basket when her opponent looked away! (Sorry, couldn't help mention that one!)
