Croydon 4 extend their lead at the top of the league!

Croydon 4 travelled to Epsom college for a game between the two top teams in the league knowing that a win would secure the league title.

In first attack was Tom, Paul, Dawn and Hannah, while Kay, Ellen, Jon and Bryan were in defence.

Croydon 4 began the scoring and maintained a healthy lead throughout the match while limiting Nomad goals. All team members played their part and put up plenty of shots with goals coming from both sections.

With such good passing and communication, it doesn't leave much to write in the match report as Croydon 4 excelled in their play and dominated throughout the game, leading to a comfortable lead within the league.

Thank you to Paul for giving invaluable advice throughout the game and at half time to both sections and well done to Tom for scoring his first penalty (that he has taken in a game! He hasn't just missed them all - honest!)

If anyone remembers any details, please feel free to add or adapt :)

Swans let lead slip away

Swans arrived at Royal Russell for the only home game that day, hoping to secure another win against Highbury 3. In first attack was Ben, Leo, Jess and Joc and the first defence with Joe, Rog, Emma and Amy. The first 5 minutes both teams battled and then Ben managed to score the first goal from 4 metres, set up by a clever pass from Leo. However, not too long after, Highbury managed to equalise to 1-1. Swans fought back with Amy scoring a quick running in shot, fed by Rog. Again, Highbury managed to equalise to 2-2. Both teams defended well with players sticking to their opposition. Leo managed to get a rebound and peel back from his player, making the result 3-2. From then, Highbury scored two shots, bringing them into the lead- 4-3. Just before half time, Joe scored a long shot to equalise to 4-4.

Half time talk focused on battling hard and regaining the fighting instinct that we had against Bromley the previous week. The second half began with attack switching on quickly, resulting in Ben scoring a running in shot fed by Joc. Soon after he beat his man again to score another shot, fed by Leo. Then, with the change over, Emma scored a running in shot, fed by Joe bringing the Swan's lead to 7-4. Within the next 5 minutes, Highbury scored bringing the score to 7-5. Another change in attack and Ben scored a shot, by turning in the feed however Highbury retaliate too, bringing the score to 8-6. Roger then scored a lovely runner, fed by Emma putting us in the lead at 9-6. Although determined in defence, Highbury were able to make a come back by scoring 4 more goals in the final 10 minutes making the final score 10-9 to Highbury. MVP went to Jess for working tirelessly in defence and keeping her competitive player quiet in attack.

Thanks to Craig for completing his refereeing debut. We look forward to our final league game of the season against Highbury 2 next week.
