Croydon 4 triumph over Bec 4 by narrowest of marginsWith a late morning start the complete team arrived in plenty of time but of course matches were running late. With Gwenda, Charlotte, Craig and Callum taking up 1st defence leaving Karen, Chin, Adam and David to attack. Both sides defended and attacked hard keeping scoring limited but when goals came it was a steady trickle with Croydon leading just at half time. Both sections had worked very well together and for a long time it looked to me as though the 4ths played as a team that had played together. Thanks to Karen for giving help and encouragement to Chin who although didn’t see much of the ball played a essential roll in keeping her player out of the way creating space which Adam used to our advantage. On the other section, everyone played together sharing the ball and shots. Callum again finding space that he was unable to use, as Karen had used the 25% ruling, and had to restrict himself to collecting and feeding out to the other three with Charlotte and Gwenda taking shots leaving Craig to sink 2. In the other section Adam was having a field day with hand offs from Karen, Chin and David the later being far too “enthusiastic” giving away 2 free passes one of which had he jumped a little higher would have made significant contact WITH THE BALL.
