Croydon 1 battle hard for a well deserved draw again Bec 2

Croydon lined up against Bec 2 for the second time in two weeks. Buoyed by a solid performance in their first meeting, Croydon were aiming for a better result and were bolstered by the return of Andy Withers.

Croydon showed real grit and determination throughout the game, with the lead alternating between the two teams. With the Palfreymans at the helm, a number of tactical substitutions were made to great effect and Croydon were stifling the usual prolific scoring of the Bec players.

With minutes remaining, Bec took the lead only for Dan James to pull it back for the home team. The game finished 12 a piece with both teams having enjoyed a highly competitive game played in good spirits. It’s been a mixed season for the team but this game shows that Croydon can still perform on their day and there’s life in the old dog yet!

Croydon 2 prove too strong for Bromley 2

Croydon 2 lined up for the late game having just watched the firsts draw a hard fought and well played game against Bec 2. Bromley 2 were clearly hoping to pick up some points and rattle some cages by fielding former Croydon player Luke James.

At first it looked like their plan may work with Bromley scoring with their first attack, before following up with a second. But sadly for Bromley this was as good as it would get.

From two down, Croydon then showed what playing as a team can achieve. All the players were working hard for each other and dominating all over the pitch. Interceptions were breaking down the Bromley attacks and several optimistic long balls from defence were plucked out with ease by the team in blue.

Croydon played with patience and composure, with goals shared out amongst the team making the result never look in any doubt.

The young Bromley players show real potential to develop into quality players, and were even offered some in-game coaching by the experienced Croydon players, certainly some players to watch over the coming years.
