Croydon 1 put up a fight against Trojans 2Croydon worked hard against a Trojans 2 side which looked more like a first team but worth the challenge. The first hurdle was the ref but thankfully with a stand in, the game started. Sections were Dom, Ed, Kathy and Susan with Anna, Callum, Hannah and Matt. Due to height difference a section swop of Ed for Matt and game on. The boys were back in town as all had scored with a mix of runners, short and long then started on scoring again! The girls did put up shorts but to no avail. A potential sneaky shot from a free pass was .missed which was the push Hannah needed to get on the score sheet. Zach came on for a few minutes and he scored to keep the boy goals up! New look Croydon 2 take on the mighty ELKsIt was a delight to see old faces mixed in with our new young future stars. Mark and Liv were paired with Hannah and Zach leaving Abi with Becki, Nigel and Tom. Knowing it was going to be a tough game as the opposition had been winning with 20ish goals ckc we're ready.... Tom had trained Thursday to ensure he remembered how to score which he did! Hopefully he and Hannah will be able to train more often. Becki was back but disaster came off injured! Hopefully nothing major as love watching her play and hearing her calling from the post. I had to come on and try to keep up, luckily Abi has lots of energy and a korfball head. Nigel still has it and was a bit of a safety blanket sorry for the bad passes, nothing changes eh! Zach, too old now to be thought of as one of ckc juniors helped ckc score look more reasonable. Mark kept moving with Hannah and Liv but section play always easier when know each other. Liv perfect step up call and score!! Croydon 3 field mix of experienced and new players against ELK2Coach Richard couldn't resist putting section of John, Wayne, Lorna and Sarah together with attack of Charlotte, Julia, Lewis and Matt. Need to thank Wayne one of ckc's juniors dad's for agreeing to play when he's never trained and was bombarded with rules of play. He did extremely well moving around the court with natural ball skills. As usual I've no real idea of the game but starting in defense and knowing who in ckc scored I sadly write my section let the first 2 goals in. All change. With her first touch of the ball in attack Sarah slots in a mid range shot as if she's been playing for years! We're back in the game. Unfortunately our attack didn't last long as back to defense. First season Matt and Lewis were struggling with the experience of Julia and Charlotte (come training ladies) so Richard swopped our Runaround Jon for Matt. Lewis teased with getting free for so many shots that hit the basket or roll around the rim but the goal wouldn't come. Matt after working hard got a long shot and I got a sneaky under the basket. It's a work in progress as part of the game is knowing how people play.
