Croydon 1 out jumped by Bromley 1Croydon had the joy of Zach being available to play to add some height with Ed but the Bromley boys all seemed extra tall! I forgot to take pictures so unsure of sections but numerous subs and changes occurred anyway. Dom scored for Croydon first with a gift from a Bromley player, who knocked the ball straight to him as he stood under the post! Of course Dom casually catches pops it up and goal. Matt forever moving and putting shots up scored a shot goal then a long from downtown. Obviously Anna can't have that so scores a long shot of her own. Just at half time Matt again scores long but the game was more Bromley favour who had 12 to ckc's 5 eek. Wonderful words from Richard as second half begins, Matt scores another long. Dom scored his penalty Susan gets long shot after goal disallowed.Matt another long, maybe that should've been the working point . Zach warmed up with a textbook drop, Dom scored again then Zach final score 17 - 12 so we lost but won the second half. Maybe it was the subs of Abi, Callum, James and Mark? Croydon 2 nail biting win against Bec 3Croydon 2 were looking consistent with team, first attack Alex, Annie, Callum and James leaving first defense of Abi, Hannah, Mark and Tom. Both teams were finding their 2024 legs with numerous attacks but no goals. Croydon got the first goal, a long shot from Annie who obviously was thinking enough attacks so threw up long GOAL but Bec scored straight away so all change. Tom got a nice under the post goal but Bec again scored then again. Callum scored a long shot then a short but the goal of the first half or even the game goes to Abi. Drum roll - she shoots from distance and as everyone knows you are supposed to follow the shot, it missed but Abi had run in as it was in the air, she gets the rebound and scores the runner!! Bench goes wild with applause as very impressive. Half time score Croydon trailing by 2 goals. Richards team talk set up for nail biting second half. Annie wins and scores her penalty. Alex near short shot, likewise Tom, Hannah gets rested for Liv to play with other young ones. Liv scores! Annie slots another penalty. Mark gets midrange I do believe after his mum shouted shoot, if only she'd shouted sooner if he always obeys so nicely! James ups his tempo which I wouldn't have thought possible thinking he must score and yes the winning long shot and victory to ckc 2s. Croydon 3 find their New Year shooting boots against Bec 4Obviously korfball is a super sport as it's a team game and all ages. Bec had a young team and new players which helped Croydon practice what is done in training moving the ball, ball lines and scoring. Scoring is what they did. Across the board Rebecca was too good at collecting and too polite throwing the ball to team mates calling at being free and not taking the shot herself. MVP was Lewis who yes finally scored a beauty under the post but no!! Defended not allowed. Never fear it was just what he needed as ended the game on a hat trick with numerous interceptions too. Everyone was on form, running in shots, short, mid and long. Not many silly passes balls chased, full court used and happy faces. Hopefully everyone trains and is available to play next games.
