Kingfisher KC2 9 v 17 Croydon KC2 Croydon took an experienced team to Buckmore Park for this reserve league fixture. Steve and Kim Jones, joined the returning Andy Withers and Sarah George. Down the other end, captain Nigel Hudspith was teamed up with Nick Collier, Lorna Elliot and Jules Johnson. Kingfisher fielded a young team but one that is growing up together, improving with each game. The first half was not as comfortable as Croydon would have hoped with goals being traded fairly evenly. Withers was given the opportunity to work on his free-passes and showed that much is still to be done with half a dozen misses the first half. Croydon went in with a 3 goal lead, the scores at 5-8. The away team started the half brightly with a smart move from the start which resulted in a running-in shot for Collier. Indeed many goals were yielded by the home team by bad passes out of defence and/or lack of concentration - areas that player-coach Dorcas Kingsford should be able to address for future matches. Croydon eliminated much of Kingfisher's attacking force in the 2nd half and slowly pulled away to end the game with a comfortable 9-17 victory with goals spread amongst the players. The team will be looking to extend their 5 match unbeaten run against Kwiek next week. The crowd go wild!
