Supernova 2 versus Croydon 3
Amazingly the club wasn't able to field a proper 3rd team despite the 4th team game being cancelled so Sarah George, Zu Munshi and Andy Withers played down for this fixtures against a bright Supernova 2 side. Supernova 2 looked to be as strong, if not stronger, than their 1st team that played before this game as they matched pace with height and some good long shooting.
Zu Munshi started the scoring for Croydon but by that stage the visitors were a couple of goals behind. In a rather dull first half the teams went in at 2-1 to the hosts. However a goal from Mike Moore helped Croydon get back into it and further scores from the substitute George and a penalty from Withers gave Croydon hope. However Supernova were still putting their chances away and maintained a 2 goal lead throughout despite a late Steve Pratt finish under the post. Final score 7-5 to Supernova.
This game should help Croydon 2's Cup chances though as it gave the team a precious insight to their new players for the cup meeting next weekend. Croydon will certainly need to be on their game but a potential weakness for that fixture will be the Supernova girls.
