Deserved Draw

The thirds had Supernova 2 at home and we should have sat on the away side!

Sections were Emma, Vernon, Angela and Dave (Angela thought she was clever choosing 1st attack) leaving defense Patrick, Chrissie, Mick and me.

Well, I have to say our defense was poor as we let the first 2 goals in - in our defense of the lack of defense it was Supernova's first 2 shots, and they both went in!! eek! To even it up Mick and I got the next 2 goals so back to level pegging. The game was then well matched. I reckon Croydon put more shots up but not as accurate as Supernova. Half time score 7-5 to us! oo yeah

Back in play, second half even more physical (Emma will be counting her bruises but I'm sure she enjoyed it)! Angela managed to stay on her feet, Dave bowed down to the penalty and Vernon nicely converted. Chrissie found the basket - with a sharp word from Mick "put it up" if only it was always that easy? Pleased to see Patrick and Emma got goals in first appearance for a while. All in all the game was fast and good to play.

End result deserved 10-all draw, they had the lead we fought it back and visa versa. Only 2 games to go for us I think and we will need players so anyone reading and wanting to play please let me know!

Match drawn

An unfortunate collision with an opponent lead to a twisted ankle forcing Leah Palfreyman going off within 4 minutes leaving the attack a player down. Highbury quickly seized the advantage going 2-0 up and despite Croydon scoring next, the home side let Highbury get away to 1-4. However on about 15 minutes the team was back up to full strength after the fortunate visit from Ross & Saskia. Croydon duely rallied going in half time 4-5.

The 2nd half started with Croydon pulling level and then goals were traded before Croydon found themselves 8-9 down with 2 minutes to go. The match was heading for a repeat of last week until Becky Pratt popped in a running-in shot to save the day. The defence held firm: Final result 9-9.
