Croydon 1 stumble against Trojans 2Croydon 1 took on Trojans 2 on a cold and frosty morning in a very cold Trinity. Croydon lined up unchanged from last weeks awesome win, with Captain Zu Munshi, Ed Chaney, Anna Jeanes and Julia Johnson in defence and up the other end, Grace Stimpson, Hannah Driver, Dan Pratt and Vernon Ellis. Coach Paul Jeanes was on International refereeing duty in Belgium so Steve Wright took on the role in his stead. The coldness seemed to affect both teams as the pace of the match was not high, and it was both teams' defences that dominated throughout. Trojans were definately the brigher though, working well in attack and causing the Croydon defence some initial trouble. By half time the score was a miserable 5-2 to Trojans, but the game felt like it could go either way. Croydon had managed to slow down the Trojans attack still further, but were also struggling in their own attack, failing to move the ball fast enough, and not getting close enough to take shots within their ideal shooting distances. Some flashes of the teamwork from last week were evident, but they were all too rare, and although there were slightly more goals in the second half, Croydon will be disappointed that they couldn't replicate the fantastic display they showed last week. Final score: 12-7 to Trojans.
