Bryan, Julie Charlotte and Jon were in first attack and they started although they meant it. The four zero training just carried on from Thursday night and they rattled the basket at least 3 times in the first 2 minutes. After that they lost possession and at the other end Kathy, Angie, Phil and David defended it out for a while before Bec got their first goal. Returning to the other end Jon got a kind of spinning running in shot which he had clearly been working on for some time to level the score but after that the game settled down. Croydon attacked and defended with enthusiasm but the ball was not running for them. Charlotte scored her customary defended(?) goal but Bec steadily slotted them in from both distance and running in til the half time score was 6-1. After the interval Croyodn played somewhat better and in a purple patch midway through the half scored 3 to Bec's 1. Firstly Bryan found some space and slotted it in from 3m and then David managed to elude his very experienced opponent to score from behind the post. Finally Jon went for a running in shot but when Julie gave him the ball he stopped and his opponent just kept on going, leaving a simple tap in from 2m. With the score at 9-4 it was almost starting to get interesting but Bec popped in another 3 to finish the game. Lots of team sprit and encouraging signs from a very new team.
