2nd half recovery for CKC1Following on from an improved performance last time up against Trojans, Croydon were looking for more of the same against a kingfisher side battling for a play-off spot. Whether it was the three week break, slippy floor or just what they had for lunch, Croydon never got going in the 1st half while KF went about their work efficiently, ending 18-1 up. With the game already gone, Croydon resolved to start again, switched the sections around and made a better fist of it 2nd half. They couldn't stem the flow of goals from KF, but they did score regularly throughout the half to keep their own score ticking over. A nice drop off from Chaney got things going, Gooch looked more at home and slotted three nice medium shots, while Hudspith drew and scored a couple of pens and Mills made a late cameo to bag a pair. For the sentimental among you, in a pre-planned move, KF coach and ex-Croydon favourite Ross came on for the last 10 minutes to round out his Korfball playing career against the side he started with. It looked like it may have been a mistake when a mid court collision with Hudspith sent him sprawling, but all ended well (for Ross) with a final signature goal. For Croydon this has been a transitional season and a changing of the guard, with many new young faces coming in and gaining experience at the highest level. Croydon will return to the same venue next week for their final game of their season, and will already be planning for next seasons assault on the promo league with confidence.
