Croydon 4 finding their feet in a new league

Croydon 4 travelled to Millwall for the second game in 2 weeks against Supernova 2. In first attack were Mills, Dean, Sturgess and Johnson and first defence was Russell, Raffield, Aindow and Stevens.

The game started brightly however the visitors took an early lead scoring 2 unanswered goals. Sections switched and both sections were getting into the rhythm of playing. Unfortunately, Supernova scored 2 more goals making the score 4-0 to the home team. Croydon were creating chances and Simon scored a nice drop off from a long shot from John. Supernova continued to play well and extend their lead. Craig scored a very impressive long shot from 4 metres just before half time.

With the score at half time of 9-2, the team talk focused on choosing our passes carefully to reduce their interceptions and strong defence.

The second half started with Croydon fighting back. Dawn managed to beat her girl at the post and was able to calmly score a shot at close range. Sections switched and Simon continuing Croydon’s come back, scoring another to make it 9-4. Croydon were much stronger in the second half and continued to create chances. Unfortunately so did Supernova and with a final long shot from Dawn, the end score was 12-5.

A good team effort from Croydon 4 against a well organized Supernova team. Thanks to Adam for coaching tips and Vicky for taking notes.

A close game for Croydon 5

After numerous team changes and panics on if we would be able to even field a legal team we did it! So with a lunch time start we had in first attack, Alice, Ben, Callum and myself (Danielle couldn't play which would've been a perfect ABCD!) leaving defence of Ashley (a virgin as playing his first ever game), Ed, Kay and Sarah.

Ben nicely warmed up as he'd just refereed scored a gorgeous long shot and probably as defence was bored with the time the goal took us to get let one in. Our defence let us down as a section as we let in the next two goals. All change, I scored a sneaky drop off though Nomads scored again.

Both sections were playing well, Alice and Callum following there players and good movement in attack. Ashley didnt look like it was his first game with interceptions and the speed around the court. Kay and Sarah super wise with interceptions and Ed all over, never looking tired after his cycle to the game!

Sarah now warmed up scored from mid range so we changed and Ben got the next two so even stevens!! Sarah put us in the lead Nomads equalised, I scored

to be continued x
