CKC 3 claw back a draw at Bec 3

CKC3 travelled to Bec with a more consistent team than in previous weeks. That, coupled with the fact that a majority of the side have been training together, seemed to pay dividends. Both sections worked well together and while we didn't come away with the win, it was certainly one of the better performances of the season. The goals were shared around and the two teams traded blows! Had the Chairman held his nerve and dispatched a penalty with the last action of the game the team in blue would have come away with a well deserved victory! Sorry all!

Croydon 4 make their experience count against Mitcham 1

Croydon 4 entertained Mitcham 1 on a slippery surface at RR yesterday. The Croydon team had quite a few miles on the clock and, despite being only 7 in number, their experience was just too much for a Mitcham side who stayed in contact throughout but were generally a couple of goals adrift.
First attack was Anneka, Sarah hole, Steve Johnson and Jon with Mark, Vicky and Ed in first defence-not the usual line up for the fourth team but that didn't seem to matter too much!
Croydon went 2 goals up to start and one of these was Sarah's first ever penalty! They kept their noses in front throughout the first half when they held a lead of 8-6. After some words of wisdom from Colin, saying he thought that the foursome ought to give the threesome more of a break, the score in the second half seemed destined to say at 8-6. Then half way through Mitcham got a goal to bring it to 8-7 and may even have equalized. But that was just the stimulus Croydon needed-they regained their 2 goal lead and started to relax and eventually won 13-9.
As for the players Anneka was always finding space and was selfless in distribution, Sarah was brilliant in the collect and Jon slotted a couple of long shots(and buckled his glasses). Steve meanwhile had a bit too much savvy for his experienced opponent and co-ordinated the end. But the accolade must really go to the threesome at the other end who actually got the majority of the goals(just). They really did work their socks off!Vicky was always there for the feed and often the collect, Mark was as deceptive and tricky as usual but as for Ed, it is difficult to remember someone shooting, rattling the basket and collecting his shot as often as he did. At training Paul has been extolling the virtues of not admiring your shot but following it in-Ed for one was listening. For this (and for bringing the sandwiches he gets MVP.
For a team who have not played together before this was a remarkable performance and well done for scoring all the penalties.
