Croydon 1 lose nail biter against Bromley 1 Final Score: Bromley 1 23 vs 20 Croydon 1J Protheroe (4)K Gilbert (3)E Chaney (2)D James (2)S Withers (4)E Swygart (3)K Bradford (1)H Robinson (1)Submitted by Anna on 01 Nov 21Croydon 2 all score in controlled win against BromleyOn the day, the clocks went back Croydon 2 would roll back the years to field a host of experienced 'superstars' to face a very fresh faced and comparatively young Bromley team. Dom Bradford, Ryan Dring, Lorna Mackay-Elliot and Char Nash took the first attack, which left Simon Mills (c), Kim Munro, Hannah Raffield and Tom Raffield on defensive duties from the throw off. It was a strong first half from Croydon which was epitomised by the fact they went into half time with a comfortable lead with every player agreeing that if anything they should have been even further ahead. With a remit to keep their discipline in the second half, prevent easy runners while continuing with their own, the team headed back out ready to establish an even more commanding position. An early Bromley goal rattled the blues and appeared to shake those half time words from their heads in the ensuing few minutes. Before the home team could bring the scores level however, Croydon returned to what was working so well early on - runners and plenty of them. This brought with it a number of goals, free passes and penalties - whilst frustrating their opponents who resorted to taking longer range shots. Croydon stretched their lead once again and as time ran out it was the senior outfit taking away maximum points. An excellent performance from a team with a wealth of combined Korfballing experience. It was very much a collective effort with everyone playing their part, whilst also getting on the scoresheet! The win was well earnt, as was Char's MVP award as she ran her opponent ragged whilst marshalling her brilliantly in defence.
