Croydon 4 play well in 1st game against Trojans 3
A brand new Croydon 4 took on local rivals Trojans 3 at Trinity School in the first game of the season. Croydon featured 3 under18s and 3 new players alongside some old stalwarts. Croydon played well in the first half trading the lead back and forth with a more experienced Trojans team that also included a couple of juniors. Richard Burrows led the scoring with some cracking long shots taken as his opponent concentrated more on sledging than marking tight. The half time score was 8-all.
In the 2nd half, as Croydon rotated in some players for their first ever match, Trojans brought on some more experience and this proved the difference as they pulled away in the last quarter to run out comfortable winners. Final score 13-9 but Croydon can hold their heads high here with several player making their debuts and learning a huge amount - they will only get better from here.
