CKC Introducing - Janine Bovey Welcome to the start of our introducing series, where each week we will be focusing on CKC's newest members. Kicking off with Janine Bovey. She's already making an impact on the 4th team with her enthusiasm and natural talent. Proving that Korfball does indeed flow through the Bovey blood line. Name: Janine Bovey Age: 26 Occupation: Primary Teaching Assistant How long have you been playing Korfball: I started playing Korfball at the beginning of the 2013 season, I’ve now been playing for five months. Why did you start playing Korfball: My brother Andy played Korfball for the University of Birmingham and currently plays for Birmingham City KC. I watched him play in a tournament and saw that Korfball looked fun to play. For months he was trying to convince me to play and insisted that I would really enjoy it! After some resistance I said I would give it a go. In High school, I was very good at Netball and Basketball, of all sports to try Korfball was a logical choice. Best thing about Korfball: It’s straightforward to learn, but takes time to perfect. As a perfectionist, it’s great to be continually learning and challenged whilst having fun. Why did you choose to play for CKC: Andy (my brother) recommended that CKC would be the best club to suit me and ensured me that everyone would be really friendly. He introduced me to CKC by taking me to the pre-season training and I really enjoyed it. Best thing about CKC: Everyone is so friendly and supportive! This is very helpful when you are new to a sport and you have a lot of learning ahead. There is a great team atmosphere at CKC, you are made to feel welcome and wanted.
