CKC Appoints New Head Coach

Croydon Korfball Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Butters as head coach for the forthcoming 2006/07 season. On receiving news of his successful appointment, Dave said:

"This season sees a new challenge for Croydon KC and the chance to rebuild following last season's relegation to National League Senior Division. I am looking forward to the challenge of leading the 1st team back into the Premier League and consolidating the 2nd team's position within the Reserve league. With the addition of new players and a more professional approach to matches, I am very confident of not only winning the Senior League this year, but also building for the Premier League next season. Croydon KC are the largest club in BKA and as such MUST be playing in the top flight of British Korfball."

Jane Belfourd, representing CKC's committee and selection panel, commented:

"As a long-standing member of the club and 1st team, Dave brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He also brings high expectations for success next season!"

Dave's korfball CV is compelling, he is the most experienced player still playing in the BKA National leagues, having been there since inception in 1986. He has won 7 National League titles and 7 BKA cups. Dave also has international honours for GB achieving a Bronze medal in the U21 European Championships in 1986, another Bronze in the Senior World Championships in 1987 coached by the famous Rudi Raamakers and a further Bronze medal in the U23 Euro Championships in 1988 coached by Peter Allan. Dave retired from international korfball after competing in the Senior European Championships in 2002 and has since been concentrating on domestic korfball with Croydon KC.

Croydon KC have also confirmed that Steve Jones will return to the club to act as principal club coach. Steve has played at all levels in the British game and has expanded into various coaching roles in recent seasons.
