Croydon 2 Dominate in a Near Perfect Display

Croydon 2 produced a near faultless performance to decimate South London 17 goals to 1.

As the game began it was hard to believe that such a one sided scoreline was on the cards. The attack, whilst prolonged and well constructed did not lead to a Croydon goal. The defence meanwhile were excellent at preventing South London from gaining a foothold either. This stalemate continued for about 10 minutes with Croydon bouncing balls from the edge of the korf - some even seemed to go in and then bounce out and clear! Even a Croydon penalty couldn't break the deadlock.

Eventually a Croydon goal was found and this quickly became two. At 2-0 the scene was set for the remainder of the match - the flood gates well and truly opened. Goal after goal from the players in blue provided an 8-0 lead at half time. The message was simple: keep doing what you are doing.

The second half continued in the same manner as the first with Croydon producing some well worked goals from all over the section. Long shots, runners and drop offs were taken by Croydon with goals throughout the team. In defence, the courageous hard work was really paying off with all South London's attacks being nullified. The efforts of the defending sections enabled the attacks to go ahead with confidence and calmness. As the game went on it began to look like Croydon would secure a rare (and well deserved) clean sheet. Sadly though this was not to be as South London earned and converted a penalty. Nevertheless this did not take the gloss and shine off a near perfect match. Without question Croydon, to a player, gave their all and worked tirelessly for each other, communicating well and making good decisions throughout. A wonderful match to be part of and a huge boost for Croydon 2 as the season progresses.

Tom (stand-in Captain).
